FP&A Senior Analyst

We are looking for an FP&A Senior Analyst to join the PayNearMe team!  The FP&A Senior Analyst will play an important role in developing business insights to help grow revenue, increase operational efficiency, and inform internal and external stakeholders. He/she will develop a deep understanding of the objectives of the business in order to structure creative and data-driven analyses.   The Senior Analyst will execute analysis, synthesize results and then communicate the insights to senior leadership. This position will report to the FP&A Manager, and work closely with senior leadership, including the Chief Financial Officer and the Chief Revenue Officer of PayNearMe.

The ideal candidate enjoys thinking through new business ideas and the metrics that drive their success, while also building the analytical foundation to evaluate those ideas.  He/she is intellectually curious, loves data and identifying the metrics that drive the business, and wants to understand trends and anomalies in those metrics (and what’s driving those trends/anomalies).  He/she takes a creative approach to problem solving and is a strong communicator, which enables him/her to share ideas and insights clearly. with others. He/she is enthusiastic about helping with both the tactical activities that keep the business running (like financial reporting) and the strategic activities that will help us grow.

Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain various forecasting models, including creating all of the appropriate communication of the model (reporting, tracking vs. forecast)
  • Analyze variances vs plan to identify improvement opportunities
  • Work closely cross-functionally, including with Sales, Account Management, Accounting, Sales Ops, Product Management and leadership to develop and implement useful analysis and reporting
  • Understand the key revenue metrics and unit economics that drive the business
  • Create daily/weekly/monthly reporting that communicates changes to key metrics and recommends appropriate actions
  • Perform quantitative analysis of operational and financial data, both independently and with the direction of the CFO and internal customers, and employ creative data analysis to identify new business insights
  • Own all aspects of investor (and other) external reporting
  • Create business cases to evaluate new projects and investment opportunities
  • Performs ad hoc analysis for executives as required

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Business Administration or related field preferred
  • 2-5 years of applicable work experience required; management consulting or investment banking, or payments industry experience a plus
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint experience
  • Experience with cloud based CPM/EPM software, (Host Analytics a plus)
  • Experience in forecasting, proven analytical ability and creative problem-solving skills required
  • Ability to deliver insightful, accurate and timely work product and communicate the results to constituents of varying financial aptitude
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities
  • Confident in forming and communicating data-driven insights and opinions
  • Team player, self-starter, and inquisitive
  • Demonstrated comfort being a remote employee and working with other remote employees
